Mr Fowler

Welcome back to the last term of the year. I hope you and the children really enjoyed your Easter holidays. Some dates for your diary:

19th April - Good Friday

22nd April - Easter Monday

6th May – May Day

8th May – Year 3&4 Intra School Rugby Competition

17th May – Poetry by Heart Assembly

21st May – FOHS Sing-A-Long Film Night

23rd May – Last day of half-term

4th June - Return back to school

This half-term, the children will be learning about myths and legends, and in particular studying King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

The children will continue to learn about fractions including ordering fractions, finding out equivalent fractions and adding and subtracting fractions. The children will then go on to learn about angles, and perpendicular and parallel lines.

In Science, after finishing off their health unit of work, the children will then be learning about plants. They will be studying the parts of flowering plants and their functions, the conditions affecting plant growth and plants as living things. They will investigate how water is transported in plants and describe plant life cycles, in particular how seeds are formed, dispersed and germinate.

The children will be learning about coding using a programme called Scratch. This is a free programme and can be used at home, if the children want to continue their learning outside of school.

Every Monday PE lessons will be focussed on swimming. The children will be leaving school approximately 10:00 and returning back from the pool at 11:30. On Wednesdays of this half-term, the children will be learning about tag rugby. They will also participate in an intra-school rugby competition with Year 4.

For their topic work the children will first be looking at Europe and it’s countries. They will then go on to look at Italy; it’s physical geography, it’s culture and it’s landmarks.

For the first few weeks of this term, the children will have a special Literacy project round King Arthur. A leaflet will be coming out soon about it, so if there are any questions please let me know.

If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to come in and see me.

Thank you.

Mr Fowler
