Year 1 School Closures

I hope you are all looking after each other and have had fun at home over the last couple of weeks. I am quite achey at the moment after doing Joe Wicks workouts each day with Reece but I am trying to keep active and get fitter! I have also been in school working with some of you and putting together some more learning packs when at home. The next pack is ready to go for the week beginning Monday 20th April after the Easter holidays.

I have added some extra lego challenges to our website in the meantime as well as some optional Easter booklets. I have also added a few more tasks to your MyMaths accounts which link with our next pack which focuses on counting to 50 as well as counting in 2s and 5s. I have also found some useful online resources.

Oxford Owls has an eBook library for you to read with books like the ones we have at school. You can select your reading book band level but don’t worry about looking at books at the level below too as it is all good practice!

Another good website is:

which has 3 different levels including First Steps, Fun with Words and Champion Reader. It has games to practise reading words at your phonic level. It also has sentences to read and comprehension practice.

PhonicsPlay is the website that we use in school with lots of games to practise your phonics sounds. It has recently been updated so can now be accessed via:

There is also which is linked via these pages and is great for extra reading practice to supplement your reading books.

For numeracy, Topmarks is a fantastic resource. Some favourite pages are:

Cbeebies alphablocks and numberblocks are also fun and consolidate our learning!

If you need anything, please email me on and I will do my best!

I have loved seeing the photos of the work you have been doing and look forward to your messages each week! If you would like to share something that you are proud of with your friends or contact each other about what you have been doing, I have set up a discussion page on the school website which you can access via the student login on the school website home page using your username and password which were on a sticker either on your reading diary, homework folder or homework pack.

Hope this helps. Please look after each other and take care. I am missing you all lots!

Stay safe! Happy Easter!

Mrs Bradley
